* Bulldogs penalised 2 points for breach of interchange rule.
While Brisbane's 20-point win over Penrith at CUA Stadium would seem on paper to be a comfortable result, for
much of the night it appeared anything but comfortable; and it was only a late rush from the Broncos that blew
the margin out in a game that until then was poised to be much closer.
The Broncos had got out to a 24-6 lead at half time, but in the second minute after the restart, Shane Elford went
over. Then 10 minutes later, an offload and a lucky bounce saw the ball land in Michael Jennings' hands for the
easiest of tries; and when Michael Gordon converted the score was back to 24-6.
The Panthers continued to press the Broncos' line, and the Brisbane defence was forced to absorb pressure
for set after set. But, try as they might, the Panthers were unable to penetrate the Broncos' line. At 70 minutes, a
penalty goal to Corey Parker gave the Broncos some breathing space. But in the final 7 minutes, Karmichael
Hunt and Justin Hodges, against the run of play in the half until then, produced brilliant solo efforts to score
converted tries and ensure victory to the Broncos.

It may have been winning ugly, but Gold Coast picked up a valuable 2 points when they defeated Canberra
16-10 at Skilled Park on Friday night.
It wasn't a game that reached any great heights, with both sides well below their best form; but the closeness of
the scores maintained the interest through the night. The Raiders led 6-4 at the break, but William Zillman,
coming off the bench for the second half, turned the match Gold Coast's way when he was on the end of a
grubber from Scott Prince to score. But the Raiders hit back again, with Joel Monaghan running from the end of
the field to just 20 metres out before passing to Alan Tongue, whose grubber sat up perfectly to enable Adrian
Purtell to score and level the scores.
The match was deadlocked on 10-10, and poised to go to golden point. But with less than 2 minutes left on the
clock, some individual brilliance by Mat Rogers saw him put the Titans back in front and take out the match.

Old rivalries were re-kindled in the leadup to the St George v Newcastle game, with St George's Wendell Sailor
and Adam MacDougall trash-talking each other in the media. But when game day came, both players lived up to
their pre-match hype with rock-solid performances. Adam MacDougall scored for the Knights and Wendell
Sailor scored a double for the Dragons; but it would be MacDougall who would get the last laugh, with the
Knights taking out the match.
The Dragons led 14-6 at half time, but when Sailor was forced to leave the field injured early in the second half,
the tide turned; with Newcastle running through 3 tries to 1 in the second half to take the game.

In his first 2 games back in Manly colours after his pre-season sexual assault charges, Manly fullback Brett
Stewart would appreciate the difference between home and away support. The cheers that followed his every
move at Brookvale were replaced by booing and hostile crowd-calls by the Souths supporters at ANZ. But it
would be Stewart that would have the last laugh, scoring a double in Manly's 24-8 win.
Early on, it was Jamie Lyon who did the damage, having a double by the 18 minute mark. Stewart also went
over once before the break and the Sea Eagles led 18-0 at half time.
Souths came out firing in the second half, with Craig Wing going over to create hopes among the home fans
of a comeback. But Stewart's second try ended those hopes; and although Nathan Merritt scored for the
Rabbitohs in the dying moments of the game, it was too little too late for Souths as the Sea Eagles recorded
their second straight victory.

New Zealand Warriors took out a remarkable victory over the Sydney Roosters, coming from 16-0 down at
half time to level the match at 16-16 after regulation time before taking out the game during golden point.
The Roosters had dominated the first half, leading 16-0; a lead that could have been 18-0 but for Craig
Fitzgibbon's unsuccessful conversion attempt from the sideline that hit one upright, rebounded to hit the
other before landing away from the goal. Had the ball fallen over the crossbar, the Roosters would have won
in regulation time.
Shortly after the restart, Stacey Jones crossed the Roosters' line to get the Warriors on the board. On the
hour, a bomb from Jones found Manu Vatuvei, who offloaded to Jerome Ropati; but Kemp was unable to
convert. A few minutes later, Vatuvei went over himself, but again the try wasn't converted and the Roosters
maintained a 16-14 advantage. Then, with just moments to go in regulation time, Denan Kemp was awarded
a penalty. The goal went over to level the scores, and during the fourth minute of added time, Stacey Jones
found himself in perfect position for the winning drop goal.

Cronulla took their home game against North Queensland to Adelaide, but the Sharks' season of pain and
frustration continued, going down 34-10 to a red-hot North Queensland outfit to find themselves stranded at
the bottom of the table.
Desperate to atone for past disappointments, and keen to put on a show for the Adelaide locals, the Sharks
were competitive early. Matthew Wright scored an early try, and after 34 minutes the Sharks were leading 4-0.
Shannon Hegarty scored for the Cowboys, Johnathan Thurston's conversion giving North Queensland the
lead.
The floodgates opened after half-time.The Cowboys ran in 5 tries to 1 in the second half, turning what had
looked like being a closely-fought game into a blowout. The result, North Queensland's second win of the
season, sees them just one game outside the top 8 and with a favourable for and against; but one that
leaves the Sharks stuck a game clear in last position, with every defeat their season going from bad to worse.

The loss of the 2 points for the interchange debacle continues to burn deep for the Bulldogs, but again they
put those woes behind them to turn on a dominant performance against Parramatta to cruise to a 48-18 win.
The tone was set in the opening minutes, with Josh Morris scoring twice in the opening 8 minutes as the
Bulldogs raced to a 12-0 win. The Eels tried hard to match it with the Bulldogs, and the Bulldogs' lead was
16-12 at the break. But within moments of the restart the floodgates had opened, with Warburton, El Masri
and Patten scoring within the first 10 minutes of the second half. It was all one-way traffic, as the Bulldogs
consolidated their position in the top 8 while condemning the hapless Eels to second last on the ladder.

Wests Tigers enhanced the reputation of Leichhardt Oval as a fortress, and a graveyard ground for the
Storm, with a 16-6 win in a wet Monday night match.
The Storm were keen to put on a good performance for Cam Smith's 150th game, and it didn't take long for
Ryan Hoffman to score. But the Tigers fought back, a grubber from Robbie Farah finding Tim Moltzen. Chris
Lawrence gave the Tigers the lead shortly before half time. The Tigers maintained the lead through a dour
and gritty second half, in which the only score was Chris Lawrence's second try in the last few minutes of the
game that wrapped up the win for the Tigers.
