Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney remain undefeated at the top of the ladder after round 4. The Bullets were untroubled as they ran away to a comfortable 21-point win over Singapore; but it was a tighter affair for the Tigers when they battled against the South Dragons in the local derby. The Dragons led for much of the night, leading by 10 points with only 6 minutes to go; but were unable to last the distance as the Tigers came home strongly to snatch a 3-point victory in the dying seconds. Sydney also recorded a win over the Dragons. A see-sawing battle at Vodafone Arena was in the balance until the final few minutes, when the Kings pulled away to maintain their unbeaten streak. While low-scoring battles have been a common feature of the 2007/08 season to date, an exception to the rule took place in Wollongong where the Hawks recorded their first victory of the season when they jumped the Razorbacks to run away to a 132-109 win. Perth Wildcats made their move in a thrilling 4-point encounter at Challenge Stadium. Redhage was the difference between the two sides, tallying an amazing 40 points to guide the Wildcats to a 95-91 win. Gold Coast recorded their first home victory when the Blaze took a comfortable 15-point win over Singapore. Another team to break their home duck for the season was the New Zealand Breakers, who took out a one-point thriller against Townsville; the Crocodiles remaining winless since the opening round and in danger of falling off the pace. |
