Cairns Taipans 88 d Gold Coast Blaze 72
Competition newcomers Gold Coast Blaze
travelled to Singapore and returned with their
first victory in the NBL. In an even contest, the
Blaze pulled away in the last quarter for a
6-point win.
It was the same margin, but a very different
story in Townsville as the Crocodiles hosted
the Sydney Kings. The Crocs got off to a flying
start, but gradually the Kings pulled them back
to hit the lead in the last quarter. Mark
Worthington with 22 points was top scorer for
the Kings.
Defending champions Brisbane Bullets served
warning to the rest of the competition that
they were hell-bent on back-to-back titles with
a comprehensive 25-point win over
Wollongong. CJ Bruton and Ebe Ere in
particular were in devastating form for the
Bullets.
Also in strong form was Melbourne Tigers,
maintaining their position on top of the NBL
ladder with a comfortable 16-point win over
Adelaide 36ers. Cairns Taipans also remain
undefeated, after a 16-point win over Gold
Coast.
The West Sydney revival continued in round 2,
with the Razorbacks too strong for Perth
Wildcats to rise to 5th on the ladder.
