St Kilda were favoured to comfortably account for the Western Bulldogs on Friday night, and everything
appeared to be going according to the script when the Saints raced to a 37-point quarter time lead.
But the Bulldogs never gave in, working their way back into the contest to hit the front late in the third
term and run away with the match in the last. It was a remarkable righting performance by the
Bulldogs, maintaining a share of the lead and raising the club's prospects in 2008.

For much of Saturday afternoon, the Kangaroos looked set to upset the undefeated Hawks, leading at
every change and with a 17-point lead at the final break. But the Kangaroos were fatigued, and the

were again pivotal points up forward for the Hawks, while the Kangaroos were well served by Corey
Jones with 3 goals.

There's always plenty of passion and agression in a WA derby, and this contest was to be no
exception as the embattled Eagles had the better of play early but were only able to lead by 3 points at
quarter time. The Dockers made the match-winning break in the second term, kicking 5 goals to 2,
and try as they might the Eagles were unable to bridge the gap. Matthew Pavlich with 5 goals was best
on ground, while the Eagles' Daniel Kerr was prominent in the stats register.

Sydney's strong start to the 2008 season continued when the Swans recorded a hard-fought 17 point
win over a persistent Brisbane at the Gabba. It wasn't a game that reached any great heights, but the
solid opening term where the Lions were restricted to a solitary goal proved the difference between
the sides. Jarrad McVeigh was best on ground for the Swans, while Daniel Bradshaw with 5 goals
played a key role in keeping the Lions in the contest.

Carlton lost their 14th straight game, equalling the club record worst-ever losing streak, but it was a
much-improved performance against Essendon in front of over 64,000 at the MCG. In a high-scoring
shootout, Brendon Fevola bagged 8 as the Blues took a 1-point lead lead into the last change, but the
class of the Bombers shone through in the last quarter; with Lloyd and McVeigh each recording 4
goals to keep the Bombers in the top 8.

Heading into the round 4 clash at Skilled Stadium, Geelong were favoured to demolish Melbourne. In
the end the Cats won, but the Demons were far from disgraced after a much-improved performance.
The final margin of 30 points gave the Demons encouragement that the embattled club may have
turned the corner. Tom Hawkins with 5 goals proved a handy target up forward for the Cats, while
Cameron Bruce's 3 for the Demons helped keep them in the contest.

A crowd of over 70,000 was on hand at the MCG on Sunday, and they witnessed an 11 goals to 4 first
half by Collingwood which was enough to set up a match-winning break against the Tigers. It was a
solid effort by Collingwood, bouncing back from their narrow defeat in Brisbane last week to maintain
a top-8 performance against a Richmond side that, although never looking like coming back, refused
to capitulate to build hopes that better times are around the corner for the Tigers.
Collingwood        5.2        11.7        15.9        18.14 (122)

Last year's runners-up Port Adelaide remain winless in 2008 after a heart-breaking 6-point loss to
Adelaide in the SA showdown. In a see-sawing contest that would go down to the wire, youngster
Douglas was magnificent for the Crows, and was well supported by evergreen Simon Goodwin. The
Burgoyne brothers were among Port's best, but despite a rising injury toll that saw the Crows with no
interchange at the end of the match Port were unable to find a way to hit the lead in the last term.
